Role Introduction: To support the Shift Leadership in providing visible and effective leadership in the factory to deliver the daily production plan through consistent, joined-up and cost-effective performance, whilst ensuring the highest Quality, Technical and Health & Safety standards are maintained. The role is expected to be present on factory floor at all times.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Deliver excellent operational shift performance through efficient working between teams and areas, ensuring delivery of the daily schedule on time and in full
  • Reporting performance against plan throughout day
  • Completion of appraisals for team members in areas of responsibility
  • Continuous improvement – driving through shift improvements and assisting the Manufacturing Leader in the resolution of inconsistencies
  • Ensure consistent application of colleague welfare, discipline and standards, including legal compliance
  • Deliver the daily production plan. Be fully aware of the schedule status at any given time throughout the shift
  • Improving efficiency (i.e. minimise defective pack rates, minimise unscheduled downtime, minimise floor waste, etc.) through analysis of factory performance data and sharing of best practice across shifts
  • GMP and Factory Standards – to ensure that all factory standards and processes required by BRC and our individual customer requirements are met. Ensure that the “clean as you go” policy is understood by all staff
  • Ensure 100% customer service – right first time every time
  • Continually challenge existing processes in order to deliver Continuous Improvement

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Basic Food Safety
  • Managing operational resources within the food manufacturing sector
  • Working knowledge of Process Machinery
  • BRC understanding and experience
  • Understanding of technical requirements within a food manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience in leading teams

Desirable Skills:

  • LEAN qualification (e.g. Six Sigma)
  • IOSH
  • Level 3 Food Safety
  • Train the Trainer
