Buying Manager

We’re looking for a Buying Manager to join our Group Sourcing Team and take the lead on our fresh produce procurement strategy. This isn’t just about buying veg – it’s about building strong supplier partnerships, driving commercial success, and championing sustainability across a fast-paced, ambitious business.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Own supplier strategy and negotiations end-to-end – from grower to factory intake – delivering value, quality, and innovation.
• Build long-term partnerships with growers and suppliers, aligning plans with sustainability and growth goals.
• Keep your finger on the pulse of markets, seasonality, and costs – and adapt quickly when challenges arise.
• Run tenders and contract renewals with clear KPIs and performance measures.
• Champion sustainability standards (LEAF, Red Tractor, Global G.A.P.) and drive Scope 3 reductions.
• Deliver insight-led reporting that helps the business make smart, timely decisions.

What You’ll Need

• Proven experience in fresh produce or vegetable buying, with strong negotiation skills.
• Commercial acumen to manage high-value spend and deliver cost efficiencies without compromising quality.
• Knowledge of fresh produce supply chains, seasonality, and sustainability standards.
• Strong analytical skills to turn data into strategy and day-to-day decisions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
• Ability to travel across the UK and overseas when needed.
