purpose of the role

  • Responsible for the management, leadership and development of the planning team; ensuring the teams’ role in achieving customer service, efficiency and profitability targets are achieved
  • Medium and long-term planning
  • Working with the Manufacturing leadership team to ensure that the planning/production process is optimised
  • Working with Commercial & Procurement teams to ensure good relationships with customers and suppliers are developed and maintained.

What you’ll be doing

These are the things you’ll be responsible and accountable for, and some of the tasks you’ll need to carry out

•Managing the Planning Team including all aspects of their well-being, performance and development.

•Ensuring all team members develop close working relationships and effective communication with members of the wider site team in order to maximise the efficiency and profitability of the business.

•Covering some planners’ duties during team members absence.

•Publishing daily, weekly and period KPIs, reviewing the results, investing the root cause and putting corrective actions in place

•Overseeing the effective and accurate administration of all raw material purchase orders

•Manage processes to optimise stock levels to ensure availability whilst minimising the stock held

•Investigating, implementing and managing enhanced business systems and processes.

•Regularly reviewing short, medium and long-term forecasts and capacity plans and sharing outputs and recommendations in the monthly S&OP process

•Planning and reviewing all special and seasonal events such as product launches, Christmas, new customers, etc.

•Managing operational aspects of outbound logistics – despatch times, claims, etc.

•Be the key point of contact between our site teams and our customers. Developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with the customer demand & forecasting teams

•Proactively looking for opportunities to improve customer service, short-term forecasting and ways of working

•Provide support with ad-hoc data analysis and reporting – turning data into information and insights

What you’ll have

•A levels or above.

•Leadership qualification i.e., ILM level 4 or previous experience in leadership role.

•Working in prepared/chilled foods.

•Supply chain in food manufacturing (inventory levels, economic production quantity, forecasting metrics – RMSE, etc.).

•Worked with major retailers and have an understanding of their systems & processes

•Led external supply chain projects and initiatives

•Great team leadership skills.

•A eye for detail.

•Able to work at pace and make decisions

•Ability to pull together and analyse data from multiple sources.

•Able to present information to suit the audience.

•Excellent Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, Office, PowerPoint)

•A desire to constantly improve
