purpose of the role

In this factory-based role, you will manage and lead the quality assurance team, driving a culture of quality assurance throughout the business. You will set standards, provide quality support across all functions, and ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and comprehensively. You will also deputise for the Technical Manager in their absence. Additionally, you will be involved in customer audits and site visits, ensuring that the quality management system remains up-to-date.

What you’ll be doing

These are the things you’ll be responsible and accountable for, and some of the tasks you’ll need to carry out

  • Understanding of HACCP principles & ensuring Fenmarc & relevant standards are communicated, understood & applied.
  • Knowledge of food Microbiology, identifying trends and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Factory based, setting standards and supporting all functions.
  • Manage effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide the practical support and drive to promote a Quality Assurance culture with the QA team and the wider business.
  • Direct management, coaching & development of the QA team, including regular 1:1 meetings.
  • Technical systems support, development of procedures and implementation of new ways of working.
  • Ensure KPI’s and Technical metrics are communicated and implemented across site.
  • Monitoring of records, identifying trends & using RCA to drive improvement
  • Deliver compliance & improvement auditing across site.
  • Project work will form part of the role as and when required, working with all functions.
  • Involvement with the NPD department & Process trials through to product launch & review.

What you’ll have

Qualifications

  • HACCP level 3 (L4 desirable)
  • Food safety level 3 (L4 desirable)
  • Leadership qualification (desirable)
  • Post graduate degree in food is desirable

Knowledge and experiences

  • Experience of a quality or a technical role in a food manufacturing environment and looking to enhance career into quality management
  • Good organisational skills and manufacturing knowledge.
  • Experience of 3rd party audits (BRCGS), and customer standards.
  • Microsoft literate.
